In her domestic practice, Karen helps her clients deal with an emotional and stressful period by making sure the clients understand, and are comfortable with, the court process.
Karen also represents many of the firm’s clients in consumer and corporate disputes, including claims against banks and loan servicers. Karen has assisted clients with claims against national banks, resulting in significant recoveries for the clients.
Ms. Alegi’s experience and advocacy for her clients’ positions has been demonstrated at many levels. Karen’s appellate work includes a successful argument before the Maryland Court of Special Appeals, in which that court clarified Maryland law on an aspect of contract reformation relating to a Qualified Domestic Relations Order entered pursuant to a divorce settlement. Karen has also argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in Chicago, IL on an employment law/breach of contract case. This type of experience benefits her clients as Karen has demonstrated the willingness to fight for their rights beyond the trial courts, if necessary.
